Canton, Ohio (Thurman Munson Stadium)
The Ohio Orioles 18u Black team coached by DJ Santiago and Brian Long won the Nations Baseball Midwest Regional tournament in Canton July 4th weekend. The Orioles were 6-0 over the course of the tournament.
Lacking nothing offensively or defensively, the O's outscored their opponents 49-10 in 4 pool play and 2 semi and final games while being complimented by excellent pitching performances by Brad Raley, Jon Pusateri, Zak Shockley, John Kavolik and Logan Goehler -- all of which were big keys to the Orioles success over the weekend. Powering the offensive attack were Drew Mahler, Cody Simon and Devan Ahart although they had plenty of help up and down the lineup.
The Championship game was played against Diamond League foe J&A Baseball with Raley and Shockley combining for the 5-2 win.
